Bloomington Transition Center earns national award for strong employment outcomes for students

Bloomington Transition Center's (BTC) Project SEARCH team received the national Excellent Employment Outcomes Award, recognizing the 2024-25 group of interns who worked at Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Airport hotel. The recognition honors Project SEARCH sites where 70% or more of interns achieve competitive and integrated employment, meeting the program’s high standards for successful employment outcomes.

“This achievement reflects the dedication of our interns, instructors, employment specialists, Hennepin County partners, and Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Airport hotel team members, whose collaboration helps students build the skills and confidence needed for meaningful careers,” said Robin Bloom, special education supervisor for BTC. ”We are honored to receive this award and remain committed to empowering young adults with disabilities to achieve success in the workplace and beyond.”

As part of consideration for the award, student interns must complete a full year of competitive integrated employment before employment data is collected and reviewed by the national Project SEARCH team. 

BTC is a Bloomington Public Schools program providing services for students aged 18-22 years who benefit from special education services upon completion of high school while transitioning to independent living and working in the community.
