Last week's ideal spring weather made it a perfect time for a walking field trip to this Mattapoisett landmark. Center School students were hosted by members of Mattapoisett Land Trust's educational team to learn about how plants grow and then do some planting which will beautify a highly visible spot in town.
After greeting students, MLT volunteers guided small groups through a learning walk with illustrations about a plant's life cycle. Finally, students worked together to plant sunflower seedlings in several long flowerbeds at Dennis Garden (near Salty the Seahorse).
Watch for the sunflowers growing this summer!
