Spanish 1 (Period 3)
Course Description
Spanish 1 introduces students to the Spanish language and to the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. No prior experience is required. Through daily practice with high-frequency vocabulary, present-tense verbs, and real conversation, students develop all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Units are built around situations students can use right away — introducing themselves, describing family and school, ordering food, telling time, and making plans. Cultural study runs throughout the year. Successful students finish at a Novice-Mid to Novice-High level and are ready for Spanish 2.
